Review: Orchid Seed’s Kawai Ameri

July 5, 2010

Likely the last Orchid Seed figure I’ll buy for quite some time, and not through much fault of Kawai Ameri here and more to do with Orchid’s Corti and their upcoming figures.

Review: Chara-Ani’s Himari

June 28, 2010

I’ll be blunt, I bought Himari for her bum, there’s no more reason than that. Viewing the promoshots I was enamored by the shape of it and how the combination of her catlike pose, looking back at you as you admired and her seeming willingness to show it off, well I couldn’t help myself. How did she fare beyond her derrière, was my impulse to buy based on the gluteous maximus a sound decision?

Review: Good Smile Company’s Asakura Nemu

June 21, 2010

When I first saw this figure at one of the many events she had been on display at I knew I wanted her and wished Good Smile Company would hurry up and release her. Eventually they did and for a heafty sum, but I jumped on her anyway, the decision had already been made days or weeks or months prior. Such a simple looking figure, such a high price tag, what gives?

Review: Kaiyodo’s Neko Peke

June 14, 2010

Today we have the ever abused Neko Peke from Mahou Shoujo Neko X though there appear to be some inconsistencies with this name. Unlike Peke’s master, Yamamoto Yamato, I will refrain from abusing this poor girl further and will instead provide her with a wonderful and loving home. Some say he’s tsundere for her, but some how it just comes off as tremendously violent when he’s involved.

Review: Kotobukiya’s Makinami Mari Illustrious

June 7, 2010

The 5th and last figure in Kotobukiya’s 1/6th line of Evangelion figures… or so I thought. When I ordered Mari here I thought she was the end of the line, how naïve was I to think this. Kotobukiya of course would milk this line more, but we’ll have to wait for miss Shikinami for quite some time. In the mean time, I think I’ll get back to Mari here.

Review: Alter’s KOS-MOS Ver.1

June 1, 2010

Got an oldie for ya today from a time when I thought figure collecting was far too expensive a hobby to get in to, back when the Canadian dollar would get you ¥101 and a figure would cost a measly ¥4,750. What on earth was I thinking? Now I only get ¥86 to the Canadian Dollar and figures cost ¥9,800!

Review: Good Smile Company’s Hayakawa Yuzuko

May 17, 2010

Hayakawa Yuzuko goes against my usual taste in women. The majority of the time I don’t find women who exceed my short stature to be attractive yet I get the feeling Yuzuko here would tower over me as she’s easily the tallest figure I own and she’s only a 1/8th scale figure! Hey, hair counts! Marge Simpson might be my height but not with that hair she’s not. According to Google Marge is 259 cm (8’6″) tall! (168 cm or 5’6″ without hair).
